Volume 2 of the Adventure Gothic Saga

The latest news on author D.A. Lawless is that he continues to make progress toward the release of volumes 2 and 3 of the Adventure Gothic Saga.  Volume 2 - The Curse of Anubis is in final editing and Volume 3 - The War Machines of Smokey Ridge is complete in first draft form.  These are exciting times for the Adventure Gothic franchise as it expands the world of Mitch Cavanaugh, Garrett Ryan, and friends.

Character Profile - The Cult Leader


The Cult Leader
The Cult Leader is a gruesome abomination.  Once a man like any other, he embraced the supernatural forces of his pagan worship.  Now he is a creature of great power, yet he suffers from agonizing physical decay.  Caring not for the pains of his flesh, he leads his zealous followers with singular purpose.  These followers include dangerous men like Joseph Grimes, and supernatural beasts like Caleb, the Vampire.  Few in the cult understand the leader’s true purpose, but each member of the faithful follows his instructions with unwavering loyalty.  The cult’s most recent act has been to kidnap Lord Alistair Worthington and his fiancée, Melissa Cavanaugh.  Secretly directing his men from the shadows of his hideout, the leader plots and schemes to keep Scotland Yard at bay as he finalizes is diabolical plans.

The Nobleman: Alistair Worthington

As a member of the Victorian nobility, Lord Alistair Worthington had prepared himself for a life of civic service.  However, the Worthington family was a solitary lot, and Alistair found himself on the periphery of social circles.  More ambitious and magnetic than his parents, he worked hard to penetrate the insular ranks of the British elite without success.  Ultimately, Alistair turned his attention from blue-blooded politics to a life of travel and self-discovery.  His journeys eventually took him to the United States where he met a plucky barmaid named Melissa Cavanaugh.  The two experienced a whirl-wind romance resulting in an engagement and an exciting return to England.  Unbeknownst to Alistair, his globe-trotting adventures have garnered the attention of a diabolical cult.  Both he and his fiancée are abducted by this cult only days before their wedding.  Now their lives hang balanced between the cult’s machinations and Scotland Yard’s hunt to save them.

Melissa Cavanaugh is a young woman of great resilience.  Once a gutsy barmaid in a Wichita Falls saloon, she was accustomed to a life of adversity.  However, she was not prepared to be swept off her feet by a dashing nobleman from the British Isles.  With a whirlwind engagement, Lord Alistair Worthington spirited her away to England.  She adapted well to a completely different way of life in London.  Strangely, Melissa felt an unshakable foreboding with only days before the wedding.  Sadly, her fears were not groundless.  A vile interloper invaded the Worthington town house, kidnapping both Melissa and her fiancé.  Now imprisoned in a dark dungeon by an ominous cult, she fearlessly seeks answers.  Meanwhile, Scotland Yard begins their investigation to find her and Lord Worthington.  Little does she know, her irascible twin brother has recently arrived in England to join the search.
